Using In-Form to support families to overcome challenges, and make data-driven decisions about their services

Spurgeons has been an In-Form customer since 2017, so we spoke to their Head of Data, Insights and Evidence, Catherine Murdoch to see how In-Form is helping Spurgeons to help families overcome challenges.

Enterprise

Spurgeons is a family charity that supported over 30,500 families in 2022/23, providing a place for family members to turn to in times of need. Partnering with local councils, churches, and communities, they support families, children, young people, and adults at their Family Hubs; giving them access to counselling, early years, and family support.

To manage this wide-reaching support effectively, Spurgeons needed a more streamlined and professional way to oversee their services. Previously, teams relied on multiple systems, including Excel spreadsheets, which created administrative inefficiencies, limited oversight, and fragmented reporting. They required a single, integrated platform that could reduce workload, improve data management, and enable staff to work more efficiently across all services.

User friendly

Moving from spreadsheets to In-Form gave Spurgeons better oversight and a professional, user-friendly system for staff and families.

Streamlined data

Working with fewer systems streamlines privacy-risk assessments, contract management and data cleansing, giving Spurgeons sharper oversight and more efficient use of their resources..

Data-driven decisions

Access to live data enables managers to track impact and outcomes in real time, supporting informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

Integration and daily use

Spurgeons’ prison services team highlighted how In-Form supports their day-to-day work. The system integrates newly acquired services, facilitates shared reporting and supports cross-In-Formed practices. Prison-based teams track activities with dads in prison using actions and sessions, record outcomes through Justice Stars and capture feedback in the system. This gives managers daily refreshed data in Power BI, allowing them to self-serve. The team finds the system intuitive, and the training provided was excellent.

Value and scalability

Catherine noted that In-Form provides a clear return on investment across teams and the wider organisation. Applying the system across services creates an economy of scale, adding value proportionately to colleagues’ work. Beyond the go-live date, Spurgeons continues to develop the system to grow with their organisation, using it to explore new ways of supporting families.

“Our prisons-based teams absolutely love using In-Form. “

Next steps

Spurgeons is focusing on developing an integrated counselling booking system within In-Form to enhance resource planning and make it easier for counsellors to manage their diaries. They also plan to integrate referral forms from their website to professionalise and simplify the referral process, while continuing to explore additional functionalities to expand In-Form’s support for more families and services.

“The support team at In-Form is excellent. They reply quickly and resolve nearly all of my questions immediately. Additionally, they explain why and how things work, allowing me to learn more about In-Form and its administration.”
